O2 – The Generation Game (13th January 2011)

In Wigan our group from O2 were in high spirits following a morning meeting and lunch ready for their Generation Game event at the DW Stadium.

They took part in five challenges. To gently ease the teams into things and get the competitive vibe going was a quiz round, with first teams on the buzzers.

The second challenge was balloon modelling, our teams did exceptionally well under instruction from our expert and all made a fantastic balloon dog to take home with them, some were more proud than others!

The next round was cake decorating with the theme open to interpretation and we had some fantastic results.

The fourth challenge was plate spinning with various other circus skills, again taught by our expert and then asked to put on a short showcase of their skills!

The day finished with our fantastic conveyor belt round where the two highest scoring teams of the day, The Rubber Ducks and The Potted Plants going head to head to remember as many items as they could to win 1st place. It was a very tight battle as The Potted Plants won the Generation Game Challenge!

Well done to everybody at O2 it was great afternoon.

Populus Consultants – Studio Time (3rd December 2010)

It was a battle of the York vs Manchester offices in an ultimate singing showdown! Arriving through the snow, our team of 20 delegates from Populus Consultants joined us at our fully equipped recording studio in York for a day of festive jingling!

Battling it out head to head for the ultimate winner’s prize of the golden record, our teams were quick to knuckle down into research mode in order to re-write a famous tune to become a top 40 company hit!

A closely fought battle with extra points given to rap interludes, inclusions of office anecdotes and of course any all-star solo parts, our group had a fantastic time and kept those memories all on a CD for the office playlist!

Everything Everywhere – Treasure Hunt 30th November 2010

Amidst the snow in quintessential Oxford, our small team from Everything Everywhere wrapped up and took on our cryptic trail of the centre, in direct head-to-head competition!

A trail alone would have been too easy though we thought, so we added in some additional brain teasers, photo and scavenger challenges, including a picture of the team as a human Christmas cracker and the biggest bauble the team could find!

Halfway round, the team stopped for a light lunch and glass of mulled wine to warm themselves up before mixing up the teams and taking on part two!

With a similar format to the morning, the teams raced around their trail and challenges, having to name all seven of Santa’s reindeer and other Christmas themed teasers along the way.

At their end point we revealed the winners of the second half and presented them with bubbly and medals for their efforts. Well done to both teams and sorry to Carla who couldn’t make it because of the weather. Hopefully next time though!

Criteria – The Crystal Challenge 28th November 2010

Following a recommendation from our group from the Runnymede-on-Thames, our team from Criteria joined us at the Runnymede for an afternoon’s Crystal Challenge.

Standing brave in the face of the minus 2 degrees temperatures(!), our teams dived straight into our games across four different zones: Physical, Skill, Mental and Mystery. Ducking and diving through our spider’s web, marching along on our giant team skis and diffusing a bomb before it blew were just some of the tasks they took to hand before huddling back indoors for a warm cup of tea!

Back into the thick of it and just a few more chances to win more crystals before the crystal dome finale! With gold tokens equalling points, it was a closely fought finish with bubbly and medals for our winners!

Thanks to all at Criteria for keeping such high spirits in face of such low temperatures(!) and hope to see you in 2011!

Procter and Gamble – Cocktail Making 18th November 2010

Following their morning Myers Briggs session and scrumptious-looking two course lunch, our group from Procter and Gamble were looking for a way to chill out and have some fun together, so what better way than our cocktail making masterclass?!

All in a bid to win the office Tom Cruise title, our teams first of all took a short lesson from our expert mixologist, who taught them all about the delicate art of mixing, blending and balancing spirits and mixers – slightly more complex than your standard office party punch it would seem!

It was then time to learn the classics, which once under their belt meant competition time! With flairing taken into account, our teams were judged on their natural aptitude and end result drink to see who was the best of the bunch.

ASOS – Black Cab Treasure Hunt 11th November 2010

On a wet and windy day in central London, our team from ASOS joined us for a fantastic day seeing the sights and sounds of London, all from the back of their very own black cab!

Our three teams were hot on each other’s tracks as they each piled into their vehicle, complete with Cockney cabby to take them round their cryptic trail. Along the way they had various photo and scavenger challenges to complete too, and we met up with them half way round to have a quick refreshment and peek at how they were getting on! Some amusing points already in the bag, we then waved them back off into their cabs and headed over to the end point to collate everyone’s scores.

With champagne and medals for our winners and some amusing photos for a company newsletter(!), we left them in high spirits at the Porterhouse to celebrate their victory!

K&L Gates Solicitors – Pub Olympics 11th November 2010

At the Cape Bar in London, our group from K&L Gates Solicitors met us after a hard day’s work for an evening of fun with our Pub Olympics event!

Split into 6 teams, we headed up the evening with a traditional pub quiz, testing everyone’s general, and not so general(!), knowledge and good old celebrity gossip! Chips then handed out, teams went round head to head challenges, betting their worth on a whole host of games, including air hockey, table football, our giant fair buzzer, giant pick-up sticks and many more! Points were won and lost in equal measure and our staff marshals were on hand to call up any cheats!

Whilst last orders were taken at the bar, our marshals counted up each team’s chips and the winner was announced, with prizes of champagne and medals for all the team. Many thanks to Lucinda and her group for getting so involved in the games and we hope to see you again in 2011!

Gratterpalm – The Crystal Challenge 21st October 2010

In West Yorkshire, our group from Gratterpalm were in high spirits as they arrived at the West End Centre for their day’s Crystal Challenge.

Taking on challenges in four different zones: Mental, Mystery, Skill and Physical, Anita’s three teams went head to head in a whole host of our favourite team building games; rescuing a vital piece of DNA, ducking and diving through our spider’s web and finding the right numbers in our high pressure ‘it’s a numbers game’.

The day ended with our fantastic dome finale, where the team’s crystals from earlier meant seconds in the dome. Gold tokens were the name of the game and in a closely fought battle it was Anita and her team that came through victorious!

Well done to all from Gratterpalm and we look forward to meeting your other team early 2011!

Preferred Choice – Crystal Challenge 7th October 2010

Set in the beautiful grounds of our St Julians venue, our local group from Preferred Choice joined us for an afternoon of the Crystal Challenge with our very own Richard O’Brien!

Taking on tasks in four zones: Physical, Skill, Mental and Mystery, Karen and her group were head to head in the race to win as many crystals as possible, without losing any team members to lock-ins along the way! Navigating through our spider’s web, crossing our dangerous minefield and diffusing a bomb before it blows were just some of the puzzles they needed to solve.

The end of the day culminated in our dome finale. Crystals equal seconds in the dome and it was a well fought battle with gold tokens meaning points! A fantastic day with a great group, who we hope to see again next year!

The London Job – Eli Lilly and Co 30th September 2010

In the centre of London, just off Leicester Square, our 3 teams were given the plans to the biggest heist ever to hit our TV screen – the theft of $3 million in solid gold bars! After breaking into Beckerman’s briefcase to find the plans, it was into the 1960′s minis with our Cockney chauffeurs and off to find the booty themselves!

Our team’s first challenge was to find the infamous Charlie Croker and prove to him that they were up to fulfilling the plans by solving his logic test. Hid in the Tower of London, there was a cryptic trail to crack to find him there before they were sent off with Peaches’ traffic lights test to turn the lights red and make their escape! Taking on more sights and sounds of the city, it was a race to the end where the teams had to ‘blow the bloody doors off!’ A frantic and fun day with our fantastic drivers, Eli Lilly had a fab time and we hope to see them again next year!
